A couple of weeks ago, I received an e-mail from a sweet reader of my previous blog who said she wanted to guest post. I was so excited to see what she had to say! As you know, I adore stationery and photography. There are few things better than when the two are combined into personalized save-the-dates, and Rachael is here to tell you how to get the look. You go, girl!
In today’s busy lifestyle, everyone is trying to schedule more and more into less time. People have more commitments today than ever – travel for work, kid’s after school activities, caring for family members – the list goes on and on. When a happy event like a wedding is going to take place, you want to share it with as many of your loved ones as possible. By sending out save-the-date cards well in advance, you are telling your family and friends, “I want you to be a part of this event, so please keep this day open!”
For many of your family and friends who live a distance, this could be the first time they get to “meet” your love, so don’t be afraid to have fun and make a less formal card. Use your favorite colors. Pick your favorite photos and include them. If you have a pet together, make sure it is included as well!

If you have a photo you really like, but could use some special touches, check out the photo retouching app Repix for the iPhone and iPad. This app takes your photo and lets you give it an artistic flair. You can “remix” your photos with a variety of brushes so you can “paint” with your finger. Repix gives you a variety of brushes that are both free and available for purchase. And if you don’t like what you did, you can always “undo.”

If you need a special photo for your save the date card, consider taking pictures in a traditional photo booth and use them in sequence on your save the date card. Make funny faces; give a kiss…fill up all the different shots! You can even carry the photo booth idea into a theme at the wedding reception and rent a photo booth for everyone to use! Check out ShutterBooth.com for photo booth rental information around the country.
Many think that weddings are serious. Well, they are. Two people who love each other are making a life-long commitment to love, honor, and cherish one another. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun and show everyone how much you love each other. Many believe it is laughter that keeps a marriage strong and loving.
