My love for wedding photography started several years ago when I clicked over to Nancy Ray’s website after reading about a wedding on Southern Weddings. I poured over Nancy’s images on my computer because they were and still are full of light, love, and emotion. I love the way she speaks about her life and everyone she photographs on her blog, which has become one of my favorite websites to visit on a daily basis. Several months ago when I heard Nancy hired two new associate photographers, I knew without seeing one photograph that these two would capture moments in couples’ lives with the same heart and creativity as Nancy and her husband, Will. And Elizabeth and Callie both do exactly that.
To celebrate Nancy Ray Photography’s five-year anniversary and the team’s new associate photographers, I’m so excited to share two engagement sessions from Elizabeth and Callie. I love each session so much, so I’m separating them into two parts. Without further ado, meet Elizabeth. Just wait until you see the gorgeous photos she captured of Arden and Adam.
From Elizabeth: “I was very excited when Arden and Adam booked me for their wedding, one of the reasons being that they seemed like such a personality fit for me – super laid back, go with the flow, and they even seemed to have the same sense of humor as me! Whenever you get that feeling right off the bat, you know it’s going to be great to work with the couple, and their engagement session proved that to be true.
One of the reasons that I was such a big fan of their session was because not only were they completely themselves for their pictures, they were also willing and flexible as far as my creative direction. To have a couple be completely themselves and to be willing to go with the flow at the same time is so helpful to me because it allows for a free flow of creative thought and it keeps them comfortable and “unposed”. And the best part is that it’s truly natural: how they stand, when they kiss, how their hands are… it’s all them, and you can see that in their pictures. They also selected a beautiful location (Duke Gardens), which has a ton of awesome spots with beautiful light at the right time of day. Their wedding day is actually just a few weeks away, and I could not be more thrilled to shoot it!”
