My mom and I had spent a fun afternoon in Cape May, New Jersey years ago with two of our best friends. I knew I wanted to go back one day, and one of my summer goals had been to see the shore after Sandy. I decided this was one goal I didn’t want to see go unaccomplished, so off we went on Saturday morning for a day of adventure.
I had just seen this post by Lara Casey the day before on Instagram. When was the last time you did something for the first time? When was the last time you didn’t know what to expect? I had seen lighthouses before, but I had never been inside. I had also never climbed to the top and experienced views like these. First lighthouse climb = success! Cape May Lighthouse, I’m a fan.
We then drove into the heart of Cape May. The thing I love most about this town is it’s quaint. It’s filled with New Jersey charm, but I also feel it has a dash of New England, Savannah, and Charleston thrown in for good measure.
Right after I spotted the bride and groom who inspired this post, we drove around town to look at some of the houses. We had planned to leave long before sunset, but I secretly hoped to see it. And I’m so thankful we did!
I’ll definitely make a return trip back to Cape May. Even though Kiawah stole my heart, the Jersey Shore is definitely worth the trip. I’m so thankful this town went virtually untouched by the storm because sometimes a beach house can make you feel more at home than when you are in your hometown.
Spontaneity is the best! Off we went for a day without plans and deadlines. Those are the days that end up being filled with some of the most awesome experiences, like the spectacular sunset we witnessed with God Bless America and Taps being played in the background)!!! By the way, what are we doing this weekend?:)
I love that you did this!! Beautiful reminder of what spontaneity and checking things off your bucket is all about :) love those subset photos are to die for!!!
