Piecing together today’s engagement session from Carolyn Marie Photography was the sweetest way to end my day yesterday. I first asked Carolyn if I could publish it last week on Instagram. She posted one of the stunning photos below, and I knew I needed to see more. Carolyn has a way of capturing light – natural light from a setting sun and pure joy from the couples she photographs. I couldn’t stop smiling while looking at each of Chelsea and Andrew’s photos. It’s funny how even when you’ve never two people, sometimes you can just hear them laughing and running around together on a warm spring day at the Coker Arboretum on the University of North Carolina’s campus.
A note from Carolyn, plus Chelsea and Andrew’s sweet story from the bride-to-be: I met with Chelsea and Andrew on the most perfect late spring day. The light was just perfect and this couple is so photogenic I was giggling like a little kid while I edited. Seriously, every image is so inundated with their love and joy it’s just infectious! They have such a sweet engagement story, I asked Chelsea to type it up in her own words…
“Andrew and I met when we were both in high school at an event called Pilgrimage, a Methodist youth convention. A friend from another church had made clothes pin on which she had written things like “Peace be with you” and “God loves you” and on the other side, “Pass it on.” The point was to clip the pins on people’s shirts and make new friends. Well, while walking around the venue, I saw Andrew and thought he was the most handsome boy I had ever seen. So, I ran up to him, clipped the pin on his shirt, and, being the awkward individual that I am stood there uncomfortably for a few seconds, said “pass it on!” and scurried away. Well, a little while later I saw Andrew again and noticed that he didn’t have the pin on his shirt. So I said, “Neat! You passed it on,” and he smiled. Just as soon as we walked past each other, he turned around and clipped it on the hood of my jacket. That exchange went on back and forth all day until we finally traded phone numbers and ended up talking that entire night. It really was love at first sight and has only been blooming into a bigger and more beautiful flower each day. We’ve been together for over four years now and Andrew proposed to me in August of last year. Like many things in our relationship, it didn’t go as planned (that’s a whole other story) but turned out perfect anyways. Andrew proposed to me in Norfolk after we saw one of favorite bands play a concert at the Norva. Being the romantic that he is, he proposed with a scrapbook of photos from our years together and when I got to the last page of the book, he clipped a clothes pin on my shirt that said, “Will you marry me?” and through tears and giggles I said “yes!” It has been so exciting sharing our news with everyone and getting so much love and positive feedback in return. We are planning to get married in the Spring of 2016, when we are both finished with college. We don’t mind the wait though; because that just gives us more time to plan our dream wedding. I really believe I have found my soul mate, and I’m indescribably thankful for what we have to together. If the past four years have been this breathtaking, I really cannot wait to see what our lives together hold.”
I loved shooting with these two and can’t wait to see where life and their love takes them!
