This week was so awesome. Even though I minored in event planning in college, I decided in January (during a road trip home from Charleston no less) to officially sign up for the courses required to become a Certified Wedding Planner through a local university. I walked into the classes knowing I already had quite a bit of knowledge because of the amount of articles I’ve written, in addition to having worked a few weddings with one of my closest friends. I learned new tips and tricks, realized I adore styling a ton, and had a few moments where I felt I was going down the path I was meant to follow. That feeling is worth it’s weight in gold. On Wednesday, I completed my final class and earned my certification! I’m pretty excited, especially since this week also marked the three year anniversary of my college graduation.
In addition to receiving my certification, I’ve also been keeping tabs on my favorite links. I’m back with another installment of links I love to tie your week together! :)
1. Say You’ll Be There // Making Average Awesome
Guys, I’m obsessed with the Spice Girls. And so is my best friend. She posted this video on her blog on Tuesday from the band MØ that features a cover she heard while listening to Songza. I had never seen the Spice Girls in concert until their reunion tour, which we both attended, and I basically died. They’re the best. Ever. So, naturally I’m all about covers of their most well known songs.
2. Gifts for Grads Under $50 // Carly is Inspired
I posted a roundup of a number of my favorite gifts for grads on Monday, and each idea is under $50! Monograms, bows, and a must read book are all on the docket. Plus, each gift is pretty much interchangeable whether you’re choosing a gift for your sister as she graduates from high school or your cousin as she earns her college degree. Congratulations, class of 2014!
3. The Lively Show // Jess Lively
Photo via Jess Lively (Amber Housley’s episode is my favorite so far! :)
Between driving to and from work and going for runs outside, I spend a fair amount of time listening to music. While I love listening to my favorite songs, sometimes I crave podcasts. The Lively Show is my favorite! Jess launches a new podcast every Thursday and each features an inspiring entrepreneur who speaks on topics ranging from perfectionism to launching a business while you’re still working in a traditional 9-5 setting. I binge listened to the first eight episodes or so, and I get overly excited on Thursdays. Whether you’re planning to open your own business or not, each offers a takeaway applicable to anyone!
4. An Epic Mother-Son Dance // The Today Show
My mom is convinced that we need to dance at my wedding in the future. After watching this mother-son duo’s creative take on their dance, I informed her that we should dance…to a choreographed routine. If you need to know one thing about my mom and I, it’s that we would totally do this. :) PS: HUGE congrats to the groom’s mom for dancing in heels!
5. UNC Engagement Session // Carly is Inspired
Just like I mentioned in the post, I could not stop smiling while I was pulling together Wednesday’s featured engagement session. Carolyn has such a gift for capturing the joy shared between a couple, and this session is definitely filled with so much laugher, dancing, and sweet smiles. Take a peek!
Make sure to follow along on Instagram – you’ll be sure to see either behind the scenes photos for an upcoming styled shoot or…stationery from the National Stationery Show this weekend. I need to make a quick decision! Have a wonderful weekend. I’ll meet you back here on Monday!
